Panel Sizes
Panels are custom made with widths from approx. 650mm up to a maximum of 1250mm. Panel heights from 2.00m up to 10.00m approx.
Standard Panel Construction
Each panel is constructed with a welded tubular steel inner frame, clad both sides with 16mm high density boards, isolated from the internal frame. The cavity is insulated using layers of sound absorbing materials as specified to achieve the acoustic rating. Cladding boards are retained by removable aluminium edge profiles which do not form part of the panel frame.
Inter-panel Construction
To minimise sound leakage through the vertical connection, panels have aluminium interlocking wedge-shaped, tongue-and-grooved, edge profiles with integral magnetic strips. Profiles may be either exposed, to protect the panel edge, or concealed.
Panel Finishes
Standard panels are finished in durable, high-density melamine-faced particleboard, class E1. They can also be customised for a range of looks: laminates, selected wood veneers, priming sheet for onsite decoration with wall-coverings, and any combination of these using dado rails and mouldings etc. Sections of pin-board and special acoustically absorbent boards may be incorporated; and for ultimate integration, inlaid veneered feature panels sourced and supplied by the client’s appointed joinery specialist.
Operable Acoustic Seals
The acoustic seals are housed in deep, two piece extruded aluminium carrier assemblies that extend independently at the top and bottom of each panel. Noise is diminished by using black finished carriers with insulated bridging plates. The seal carriers operate under very high (2kN) spring pressure controlled by a manually operated, rapid action scissor link mechanism (with motor drive option) for panel stability. Using a removable handle, the scissor link device can be operated easily by anyone and ensures much longer seal travel, even for floors that are not level.
Track System
The track must be installed where the ceiling can support the weight of the system. Panels hang on rollers in a white finished metal overhead track, usually concealed into the ceiling. Track junctions are precision made off-site for smooth joints.
Roller Systems
For easy progress of the panels through the tracks, special roller units have been developed to match each track. Using one to two rollers, each panel is hung incorporating the unique height setting device.
Panel Edge Options
The extruded aluminium profiles do not form part of the panel frame. Deep, tongued-and-grooved, interlocking profiles with integral magnetic strips ensure the panels hang plumb and joints close tightly together. Aluminium profiles may be colour anodised or spray paint finished if required.
Panel Stacking Options
Several standard stacking configurations as well as customized options are available. Fabrication of track junctions is controlled by assembly jigs in our factory, ensuring accurate alignment and quick installation on site.
Electric Operation
For optimal sound reductions, the operator must manually extend the pressure seals at the top and bottom of each panel. The NW100 rapid action mechanism only needs 3 turns to extend the seals, but when in a hurry, an operator may forget, resulting in noise complaints. Electric operation of the seals not only assures the seals will be extended fully but is also faster. The panels are pushed into place as normal with electric operation, but as soon as the magnetic profiles engage together, the seals automatically extend for optimal noise reduction.
